HENDERSON — Several basketball players from Warren County High School and J.F. Webb High School have received recognition from the Northern Carolina 1A/2A Conference for their achievements on the court during the 2020-21 season.
Although her team finished 2-8, Warren County junior Nakira Bullock earned the Conference Player of the Year Award by averaging 18.3 points per game. Her teammate, sophomore Katelyn Richardson, also joined her on the All-Conference team.
J.F. Webb saw two players from its women’s basketball program make the All-Conference team after recording a 7-3 overall record. Junior Ta’ida Tucker led Webb in scoring and rebounding with 15.6 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. Sophomore Isreal Thorpe followed closely behind in scoring with 14.8 points per game, and led the program in steals with 4.1 a game.
Sophomore Tierre McCaden, who averaged 12.1 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game and 1.8 steals per game, was selected as an honorable mention on the All-Conference team.
For men’s basketball, J.F. Webb and Warren County each had one representative from their roster qualify as an All-Conference selection.
Sophomore Markeevis Latta played an instrumental role in J.F. Webb finishing 6-6 in the first year of head coach Alex Tharp’s tenure by averaging a team-high 17.9 points a game. The Warriors’ leading rebounder, senior Jamarion Dunkins, and their second leading scorer, Javon Bullock, were named honorable mentions. Freshman Aaron Bolton earned All-Conference recognition for Warren County after his team went winless through 11 games. He averaged 9.9 points per game.
