HENDERSON — With only four weeks remaining on the 2021-22 regular season, Vance Charter finds itself in a solid position to make a run at the Triangle North 1A Athletic Conference title with an 8-3 overall record.

The program extended its win streak to three games on Thursday evening against Granville Central, gradually assuming more control over the contest before pulling away with a sizable 49-28 victory.

Granville Central took Vance Charter all the way down to the last second in their most recent meeting back on Jan. 5, but adjustments made by head coach Brian Howard ensured that the margin of victory in the rematch would be more than just one point.

Although Vance Charter was lacking key senior playmakers Kayla Simmons and Bailey Daeke on Thursday, Howard was proud of the way the rest of the roster persevered to hand Granville Central a 21-point loss.

Senior Allie Bliss led the way for Vance Charter in scoring with 14 points. Fellow senior Kyiah Simmons and junior Gracie Reese followed closely behind with 11 points apiece, with Reese’s final total being a career high for her.

Following Vance Charter’s matchup with Roxboro Community on Friday, the Knights will begin the new week with a road game against Henderson Collegiate on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Allie Bliss 14, Kyiah Simmons 11, Gracie Reese 11, Camilla Welborn 8, Amber Reavis 3, Londyn Whitehead 2
