RALEIGH — Willie Mae McKnight Richardson was born April 4, 1927, to the late William Jerome McKnight and late Nannie Belle Burrell. She departed this life on Oct. 10, 2020.

She was a lifelong member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a missionary, usher and deaconess. She attended the historically all-black Concord-Kittrell School and later went on to graduate from Albion High School in Franklinton. She completed classes as a nursing assistant, which came in handy with her job as a nurse’s aide at J.P. Taylor for close to 20 years. She then went on to Revco/CVS Warehouse, where she retired after 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Richardson; fiance/friend, Charlie S. Malone; all five of her children, Bettie Lou, Bertha Lou, Bertha Carlene, Willie Henry, and Larry Donnie; and two brothers, James Thomas and Charlie Wilson Mcknight.

She leaves to cherish her memory two grandchildren, Antionette Richardson and Anthony Richardson; and one sister, Nannie Claire McKnight Davis.

A viewing will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery, with restricted attendance and facemasks. Arrangements by E.C. Terry’s Funeral and Cremation Service.
