OXFORD — Roy Wayne Callis, 67, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at his home.
Born in Granville County, he was the son of Frank Hays Callis and Ettie Bet Preddy Callis.
Roy was employed with Burlington Industries for 29 years. After his time there, Roy was well known throughout Granville County for his residential services, and was everyone’s go-to handyman.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Reca Reid Callis; three daughters, Michelle Callis Dement, Pamela Callis Brown (P.J.), and Malorie Callis Hart (Blake); one son, Gregory Hughes (Linda); one sister, Henrietta Callis Loyd; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Callis Jr. and Reid Callis; and one grandchild, Cameron Brown.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at 4 p.m. on the family farm, 4061 Highway 96 South, Oxford, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lowell Wilkins, Mike Preddy, Austin Currin, Raymond Currin, Tim King, Tony Smith, Alan Reid, Frank Callis III, John Paul West and Rodney Bynum.
The family will receive friends and guests at his home.
