HENDERSON — Linwood Harold Ivey, 69, of Henderson, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late James Edward Ivey and Lizzie Owen Ivey.

Harold was the former owner and operator of G&H Home Improvements, for 17 years he was a truck driver for Roses Stores Inc. and formally he was the owner and operator Gillburg Grocery. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60. He was a member of Freedom Life Church of God. He proudly served his country, retiring from the N.C. National Guard.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Gail Grissom Ivey; two daughters, Stephanie I. Ranes (Tony) and Tracy I. Batts (Greg); three grandchildren, Laurin Elizabeth Somma (Vinny), Owen Edward Batts and Ivey Quinn Batts; a very special niece, Gail S. LaRue; and a lifetime friend, C.T. Brame.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Magdalene Boyd, Peggy Williamson, Edith Adcock and Doris Harris; and five brothers, Jimmy Ivey, Robert Ivey, Hartwell Ivey, Herman Ivey and Charlie Ivey.

The family will receive friends at his home.
