HENDERSON — Edwin Wesley Langston Jr., 73, a resident of Henderson, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Longleaf Neuro Medical Treatment Center in Wilson. Born on March 19, 1947, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Edwin Wesley Langston Sr. and Marjorie Royster Langston.
Wesley was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart Combat Wounded Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Valorous Unit Award, and First Class Gunner M60 Medal. He was a retired salesman for M.R. Williams Inc. and a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. as well as the Henderson Masonic Lodge 229 AF&AM.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.at Sunset Gardens by the Revs. Frank Sossamon and Will Breedlove.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Walker Langston of the home; one daughter, Kathryn L. Gill (Paul) of Henderson; two sons, Chris Langston (Melinda) and Wes Langston (Angie) of Henderson; one sister, Kathy L. Hobgood (Bill) of Henderson; one brother, David Langston (Barbara) of Virginia; and his beloved grandchildren, Beau Langston, Carly Gill, Hunter Gill and Brittnay Pernell.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 1:15 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Sunset Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be William Hobgood, Tony Brummitt, Clay Jackson, Vernon Mustian, Maurice Boyd and Danny Pulley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 905 Americal Road, Henderson, NC 27537, or Harriett Baptist Church, 1354 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
Attendees at the service and visitation are asked to wear appropriate face coverings and practice social distancing.
