HENDERSON — Davis Renn Hale Jr., 89, of Henderson, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Davis Renn Hale Sr. and Cora Lee Davis.
Mr. Hale was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a salesman for Simmons Ford, and also served on the N.C. Highway Patrol for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Ruth Reese Hale; two daughters, Mitzi Hale and Melissa Reams (Mike); two stepdaughters, Karen Peoples (Mike) and Terry Harris (Greg); two sons, Jeff Hale (Ann) and Stacey Hale; one stepson, H.M. Pegram (Yvonne); 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Betty Leigh Blakely.
Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Macey Hale; a brother, Fred Hale; and a great-grandson, Dickie Yates III.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Eddie Nutt. Burial and military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Yeatts II, Renn Hale, Josh Peoples, Taylor Peoples, David Hoyle, Orry Pegram, C.J. Watson and J.J. Johnson.
