HENDERSON — Billy Conn Stanton, 87, a resident of N. Lynnbank Road, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at his home. Born in Vance County on Oct. 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Tucker Ballard Stanton and Lucy Conn Stanton. Billy was a former district manager for the former Colonial Food Stores and Big Star Grocery Stores.

Billy attended Fuller Chapel Christian Church and was an avid golfer.

An entombment service will be held Wednesday Jan. 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Anna Coghill Stanton of the home; one son, Billy T. Stanton and wife, Tammie, of Henderson; two granddaughters, Hillarie Fries and Destinie Bumgarner and husband, Will; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Thomas Carroll and Scarlett Elizabeth Bumgarner; and one brother, Charlie Stanton of Henderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann S. Briggs and Frances S. Matthews; and one brother, Jerry Stanton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuller Chapel Christian Church, c/o Susan Floyd, 1470 N. Lynnbank Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Mr. Stanton will be available for viewing Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at J. M. White Funeral Home.

Those attending the service are asked to wear appropriate face coverings and observe social distancing.
