TARBORO — Barbara Anne Lockemy Mason, 81, of Tarboro, and formerly of Henderson, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late William James Lockemy and Lillie Ward Lockemy. She was the widow of William R. Hayes Jr. and Bernard Mason.
Mrs. Mason attended the South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church while she lived in Henderson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving is one son, William “Billy” Hayes (Beverly) and one daughter, Pam Woodlief (Stan); six grandchildren, Brandon Hayes, Brian Hayes (Heather), Bridgett Hayes, Jason Woodlief, Tabitha Lewis (Travis) and Lindsey Woodlief; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Hayes, Katelyn Hayes, Brianna Espinosa, Regan Woodlief and Emorett Lewis; one brother, Jimmy Lockemy; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Wayne Hayes; three sisters, Dinky Currin, Ruby Miller and Carolyn Lockemy; and five brothers, Harry Lockemy, Buddy Lockemy, Mark Lockemy, Bobby Lockemy and James Lockemy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-3 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson.
