HENDERSON — A shooting early Tuesday evening on South Pinkston Street left a teenager dead and another in police custody, Henderson police said.
The victim, 17-year-old Tysean Wortham of Henderson, suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He died after medics took him to a medical facility for treatment, according to a statement distributed by Police Chief Marcus Barrow.
Authorities were summoned to 111 S. Pinkston St. at about 5:50 p.m. Detectives went to work and “quickly developed a suspect,” a 15-year-old they had in custody by midnight.
“The motive behind this tragedy remains under investigation and no further information can be released about the arrestee due to his age,” the police statement said.
