HENDERSON — A shooting on July 23 left one man in custody and sent another to Maria Parham Health with what authorities said were “non-life-threatening” injuries.
Juston Demetric Nicholson, 36, of Norlina, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, Vance County Sheriff Curtis Brame said.
The victim, a 46-year-old Henderson man, suffered a “head injury from a gunshot wound,” the sheriff said.
The shooting happened in “the area of Stewart Farm Road and Aycock Road,” which is in rural Vance County east of Henderson.
Brame said Nicholson was arrested on Wednesday, and held pending a $40,000 secured bond. N.C. Department of Public Safety records indicate that Nicholson was convicted in 2018 of a trio of misdemeanors, among them carrying a concealed weapon, and received probation and a suspended sentence.
