HENDERSON — A 2015 Hyundai passenger car crashed into Advance Auto Parts Friday evening on Raleigh Road, causing an estimated $30,000 worth of damage to the store.

The driver, a 43-year-old Norlina man, told police the floor mat of the uninsured vehicle, registered to a different driver, got stuck under the gas pedal, leading to the collision that did an estimated $2,000 worth of damage to the Hyundai.

The vehicle crashed into the front left side of the business, damaging windows and doors, and that spot of the store had been boarded up by Saturday.

The police report estimated the speed of the vehicle to be 15 mph at impact and that the car was traveling south in the parking lot, to park in one of the store’s spaces.

The report did not cite alcohol or drugs as a factor in the incident.
