HENDERSON — The Vance County Regional Farmers Market will open at 8 a.m. on Saturdays only for the remainder of the 2021 season. On Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market will be hosting The Handcrafted Holiday Market. Please mark your calendars for this special once-a-year event. Looking forward to seeing you there.

The frost is on the collards at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market. Hand-picked turnip salad, turnip roots and red ripe tomatoes are making a good show at the market. Winter and pointed head cabbage are at the top of the list for most shoppers, and sweet potatoes for many of the holiday recipes.

Farm-fresh eggs are available, and anyone who loves cooking knows what an extra taste they add to your holiday recipes. Grass-fed beef and pork also; you may sample the product before purchase. Many very tasty recipes are available. Canned tomatoes and a wide variety of pickles, jellies, jams, honey and fresh-baked goods add the perfect touch to your meal.

Check out the hand made dress wear, quilts and beautiful holiday crafts. Many thanks for supporting your local farmers market.

Pat Ayscue is manager of the Vance County Regional Farmers Market.
