Church provides turkey dinners

On Nov. 20, City Road United Methodist Church gave out 140 turkeys and Thanksgiving dinners to people in the community. Pastor Natalie Gonzalez said this was a dinner the families could cook at home. They received a whole turkey, ingredients for a green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls and a pie of their choice. They had an option of sweet potato, pumpkin pie or apple pie. Moss Foods supplied the turkeys. The church collaborated with Flat Rock United Methodist Church and had a grant from Resourceful Communities. “With so many people struggling right now due to COVID-19, it was a blessing to be able to provide a very tangible need to our community,” Gonzalez said.
