PESTICIDE RECERTIFICATION, N.C. Cooperative Extension in Warren, Vance and Granville Counties will be hosting two multi-category pesticide recertifications on June 10 at 10 a.m. and June 14 at 6 p.m. virtually via Zoom. If joining a webinar causes any issues for you, we will be allowing people to come into their respective County Extension offices to watch the webinars there. LAKE GASTON, The annual Lake Gaston Association’s Membership Meeting is on Saturday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 11 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Lake Gaston Baptist Church, located on N.C. 903 across from Subway Restaurant. Steve Hoyle, aquatic plant management, (ncsu.edu) will talk about lyngbya, the notorious Black Mat Algae. A Q&A will follow. Members will have the opportunity to vote on director nominations, and present issues and concerns to the board. PUBLIC HEARING, Notice is hereby given that the Henderson City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday June 14, at 6 p.m., in council chambers, 134 Rose Ave., Henderson, regarding a recommendation to build a cul-de-sac on the east side of Lynne Avenue to close Lynne Avenue from Dabney Drive. ELDER ABUSE, The Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging is holding elder-abuse awareness sessions in Granville County on Tuesday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to noon during meal pick-up at the Granville County Senior Center, 107 Lanier St., Oxford, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in vendor booths in the Old Oxford Armory, 105 W. Spring St., Oxford.

STRENGTH TRAINING, L.I.F.T. is an exciting new in-person group-based fitness and nutrition program for older adults that will take place at the John Graham Gym, 115 Wilcox St., Warrenton. The deadline to register at https://go.ncsu.edu/warren_lift is June 15. The Warren County Center of N.C. Cooperative Extensions will send out packets to all enrollees that will include a page for a physician to complete. Once we receive the packet back, we will schedule a brief functional assessment. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the John Graham Gym beginning July 19 until Aug. 16.

VANCE COMMISSIONERS, The Vance County Commissioners will hold a work session on Tuesday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m. in the commissioners’ conference room, 122 Young St. The purpose of the work session is to hear from Vaya Health regarding its consolidation with Cardinal Health Innovations.

GRANVILLE TOURISM, The Granville County Tourism Development Authority will meet Thursday, June 24, at 2 p.m. to conduct regular business and hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2021-22. The meeting will take place at THE Granville Expo Center, 4185 U.S. 15, Oxford. There will be a Zoom phone/video conference link for the meeting also.
