KITTRELL — The Kittrell Job Corps Center recently held its virtual Community Relations and Workforce Council meeting. Norman Turner, Kittrell Job Corps Center director, spoke on the challenges the center has faced since the pandemic and gave an update on its operations.

Helen Bradby, NextGen youth program manager for the NCWorks Career Center, provided information on the Kerr-Tar NCWorks Career Center, NextGen program opportunities and NCWorks’ phenomenal partnership with Kittrell Job Corps Center with the placement of its students.

Suzanne Thompson, from the Community Engagement and Empowerment Team of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, provided information and resources on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on substance abuse and mental health.

Reginald Speight, district director from the office of U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, brought greetings from the congressman and provided a federal update.

During the Kittrell Job Corps virtual Community Relations and Workforce Council meeting, partners spoke on the ways their agencies or businesses could provide services for student support and placement.
