Here’s what’s happening at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market: Fall apples are showing up and you can smell the sweetness in the air. The fall grapes are just as delicious as they look.
Turnip and mustard salad, along with the so-very-healthy-for-you turnip roots, are available. Be sure to read up on turnip roots; it is amazing just how healthy they are for you.
Speaking of reading, I read this saying recently, “I Love You from my head tomatoes.” The farmers have sure given us some of the best tomatoes this fall and it looks to be another bountiful Saturday. Grass-fed beef, the new old-fashioned way, and pork are at the Vance County Regional Farmers Market and you may ask for a sample to check it out first.
Farm-fresh eggs, fresh baked goods, canned veggies, jellies and pickles sure give you that homemade feeling as you shop.
Fall crafts, quilts and dress wear are taking on a bit of Christmas as you think of gifts and decorating.
Red-skin potatoes, sweet potatoes and honey go perfect with everything.
Stop and chat with the farmers, they are always gathering items that surprise us all. With that thought, life on a farm is a school of patience; you can not hurry the crops or make an ox in two days.
The market, which is at 210 Southpark Drive in Henderson, will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. only for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming Handcrafted Holiday Market, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Looking forward to seeing you there. Thank you for supporting your local farmers market.
