CREEDMOOR — City of Creedmoor commissioners on Nov. 15 to cut the ceremonial ribbon on the Cross City Trail.

Mayor Bobby Wheeler, Mayor Pro Tem Neena Nowell, Commissioner Kechia Brustmeyer Brown, Commissioner Georgana Kicinski, Commissioner Del Mims and Commissioner Ed Mims joined Mike Turner, who served as interim city manager prior to the hiring of City Manager Gerald Smith, and LaVerne Singleton, chair of the DEI Commission, at the western side of Cross City Trail boardwalk to celebrate the power being connected to the lights that line the trail.

“I want to thank staff, Public Works, [the] Planning Department, everyone who was involved with this project,” Wheeler said before cutting the ribbon. “I think this is going to be another tool in the city of Creedmoor.”

To celebrate, Brustmeyer-Brown, clad in running apparel, jogged across the ribbon breaking the ribbon apart in celebration.

The Cross City Trail is one of many opportunities for Creedmoor residents and visitors to experience the open outdoors of the city.
