Looking for collards and other greens for Sunday dinner? Come visit the Olhmanns at the Oxford Farmers Market.

This week has felt more like August instead of June, with the hot days and spotty storms. Meanwhile the veggies are growing and getting ready to come to the Oxford Farmers Market. Since everything we sell is either homemade or homegrown by our vendors, you know exactly where everything is coming from. Market hours are every Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon.

Last week the gardens delivered zucchini, cabbage and green tomatoes, so we know the other items will be arriving soon.

This week’s veggie smorgasbord includes kale, spinach, collards, lettuce, spring onions, radishes, new potatoes, zucchini, cabbage and herbs. Robert Tingen Jr. will return with pasture-raised beef for your weekend meals.

Gus’s baked goods provide a delectable treat to finish out this feast. He will have cakes, pies, breads and cookies for your weekend dining, lunch boxes or next week’s snacks. You will also find dinner rolls, free-range eggs, jams, jellies, honey and pickles.

Looking to enhance your summer landscape? We have plants, shrubs and flowers to fit the bill. Miss Judy will have those glistening floral bouquets that provide a special delight to any room in your home.

To spruce up your summer decor, our craft department has everything you need. You will find bowl holders, placemats, jewelry, appliqued children’s shirts, pillows, aprons, plastic bag holders, crocheted dish cloths and dish towels, and many other things. You never know what you will find this week, so be sure to get the grass mowed Friday night and meet your friends at the Oxford Farmers Market. We’re at the shed directly across from the police station on the corner of McClanahan and Lanier streets.

For those coming in from Interstate 85, take exit 206 into Oxford. As you come into town, look for the signs at the CVS store on Williamsboro Street (U.S. 158) or on the corner of College and McClanahan streets. If you would like to join us, please contact Janis Daniel at 919-603-4493. We look forward to seeing you this week.
