HENDERSON — Fire Chief Steve Franklin Cordell, 51, of Henderson, passed away Sunday (01/29/23) at his home, surrounded by his family and extended family members.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of Linda Ayscue Cordell and the late James Martin “Jimmy” Cordell.
Steve’s first love was his Lord and Savior.
He devoted many hours throughout his life to leading youth groups, youth mission trips and Sunday school classes in order to draw youth closer to a personal relationship with God.
He also loved coaching many of his daughter, Kasey’s and his grandson, Cullen’s, baseball/softball teams. He was not always the calmest coach, but he was a loved coach.
Steve’s battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme was faced in the same manner he faced all his battles…with God’s strength, endurance and grace!
Thank you to all who have walked this walk with him and his family! You have prayed for Steve, sent words of encouragement to him, cooked for him, cared for him, washed his clothes, taken him to and from treatments/Dr. appointments and loved him.
We, his family, are eternally grateful.
