Midday forecast unchanged; 3 inches or more of snow expected
Snow was yet to be seen on Chestnut Street in Henderson by noon on Tuesday, but Brian Short said it could be anytime.
The emergency services director for Vance County said the forecast had not changed in recent hours. Snow is expected to accumulate between 3 to 5 inches, beginning to fall in the early afternoon, be heavy between 5 and 11 p.m. and taper off Wednesday morning.
Short, in an email statement, said the amount of snow could be slightly higher or lower than the 3-5 range depending on how conditions change.
The emergency services staff will increase personnel during the event, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Public schools in Vance County have released for the day and cancelled all night events.
