Virginia B. Watkins

HENDERSON — Virginia Brewer Watkins, 91, a resident of 1604 Rock Spring Church Road, Henderson,, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born on Nov. 9, 1921, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late George Wiley Brewer and Henrietta Strum Brewer Hite. She was a housewife and member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School teacher.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Pastor Kathyrn R. Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by two sisters, Annie H. Fridley of Chester, Va., and Gladys H. Coker of Raleigh; three nieces, Joyce B. Williams of Buffalo Junction, Va., and Mary Elizabeth Elliott and Sherby Wall, both of Virgilina, Va.; three nephews, Marion Brewer of Oxford, and Thurman Brewer and C.B. Brewer, both of Virgilina, Va.; and a special niece, Jean Tippett and husband, Roy, of Henderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Thurman Watkins; a sister, Nevell H. Stevenson; and two brothers, Thomas Brewer and Morgan Hite.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m., at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Jean and Roy Tippett, 182 Carolina Woods Drive, Henderson.

Serving as active pall bearers will be her nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, c/o Sylvia Anderson, P.O. Box 100, Townsville, NC 27584.

Frank B. Dunston

WARREN COUNTY — Frank Bob Dunston died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Warren Hills Nursing Home.

The son of the late Jessie and Hattie Dunston, he was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Warren County. At an early age, he attended Shocco Chapel Baptist Church.

He was most known for being a life-long farmer before his health declined.

Dunston was preceded in death by three sisters: Savannah, Rosa Lee, and Annie Blanche; two brothers: Jessie and Roy, and one grandson.

Survivors include: his wife, Leonia Dunston of the home; five daughters, Hattie Jordan of Warrenton, Vanessa Crudup of Youngsville, Patricia Williams of Silver Spring, Md., and Levonia Hargrove and Annie Davis, both of Oine; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Dunston of Macon; and one sister, Minnie Taylor of Vaughn.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 4, 2013, at 1 p.m., from Shocco Chapel Baptist Church, located in the Parktown community. The Rev. Lennis Thorpe, pastor, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The body will be on view today, from 1-7 p.m., in the R. H. Greene Funeral Home Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
