Instructor publishes ebook of poems

Chris Brockman has published an electronic book of poetry entitled “I Used To Be Old.”

Brockman is an instructor of English and reading at Vance-Granville Community College. The poems are based on the ups and downs of aging, according to a statement from the college.

Poems include topics such as love, loneliness, the indignity of nursing homes, allusions both musical and related to television shows, and life summaries and celebrations.

The book is available at amazon.com.

Brockman previous published works include “What about gods?,” “Growing Up in Boom Times” and “Malachi’s Cove.” Brockman has also published articles, essays, reviews, poems and creative non-fiction for magazines, newspapers, journals and anthologies.

Brockman is a resident of Wilton and has taught at Vance-Granville since 2005. He earned his bachelor’s from Oakland University (Mich.) and a master’s from Eastern Michigan University.
