Students and staff members at L.B. Yancey Elementary School recently observed "Red Ribbon Week" as part of a campaign to discourage bullying and drug use.

The school held special activities throughout the week, including a Red Ribbon Week kickoff assembly; an essay contest on the topic, “Say no to bullying and say no to drugs”; a Sock It To Drugs Day, when participants wore crazy socks; a Stomp Out Drugs Day, when participants wore mismatched shoes; a Put a Cap on Drugs Day, when participants wore hats; and a Wear Red Day.

School counselor Shalonda Young visited classrooms throughout the school to discuss the importance of being drug free and not being a bully.

All students at the school signed a bulletin board entitled, “We Pledge To Never Bully Others And Say No To Drugs.”
