Granville County commissioners hosting three public hearings

Jan. 21, 2013 @ 07:12 PM

The Granville County Board of Commissioners will hold three public hearings during its meeting this evening.

The commissioners will invite residents’ comments on a secondary road construction program, funding for senior services and an ordinance amendment related to utility trailer dealers.

The commissioners are also scheduled to hear comments opposing a proposed Creedmoor wastewater treatment plant from the Granville County Environmental Affairs Committee, Alex Floyd (representing himself and several other residents) and the South Granville Water and Sewer Authority.

County Manager Brian Alligood will report on the possibility of establishing a Veterans Affairs Committee.

A proposal for a Granville County Express Library will be presented. The library would provide services to portions of the county that do not have easy access to one of the library branches.

Jim Winston of Winston, Williams, Creech, Evans & Company will present the fiscal year 2011-2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

The commissioners are meeting tonight rather than on their customary Monday night due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Monday.

The meeting will be held in the Granville County Expo & Convention Center beginning at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
