Bumgarner tames Cardinals, Giants take NLCS lead

Madison Bumgarner once again put the San Francisco Giants on the road to a playoff victory.

Bumgarner pitched shutout ball into the eighth inning and the Giants combined just enough hitting with a couple of defensive flubs by St. Louis to beat the Cardinals 3-0 Saturday night in the NL Championship Series opener.

Northern, Southern, Webb football postponed

Due to inclement weather, homecoming football games at both Northern Vance and Southern Vance were postponed on Friday night. Both games have been rescheduled for Monday at 6 p.m.

The Vikings (1-5) are scheduled to face 3-A Big Eight conference foe Chapel Hill (5-1), while Southern (0-6) is set to host 2-A Northern Carolina conference opponent Bunn (4-2).
