Local Roundup: Hunt’s 38 lift KVA over Parrott

R.J. Hunt scored 38 points and Kerr-Vance improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 66-50 win at Parrott Academy Friday.
Hunt had five 3-pointers and went 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
“R.J. had a fantastic night,” said KVA coach Dave Carrier. “His teammates were really looking for him. He got hot. He had 38 points and he did it efficiently. I don’t think he took a bad shot.”
Carrier added that the Spartans’ had a good defensive performance and forced a lot of turnovers.
Derrius Perry and Brandon Dickerson both had 10 points for KVA, which is 5-0 overall.
The Spartans visit Faith Christian on Tuesday.

KVA varsity girls go down in Kinston
The Kerr-Vance varsity girls basketball team lost 25-18 at Parrott Academy Friday.
Rebecca Ross had eight points for the Spartans and Jessica Darnell added seven.
KVA was up 8-6 at halftime.
The Spartans (3-2, 0-2) travel to Faith Christian Tuesday.

Spartan JV boys top Patriots
The Kerr-Vance junior varsity boys basketball team defeated Parrott Academy 49-44 Friday.
Jordan Coghill led the Spartans with 19 points, Sam Fuquay had 10 and Jordan Smith added eight.
KVA visits Faith Christian on Tuesday.
