Eagles slip two games out of third place
Warren County fell two games behind Roanoke Rapids Monday for third place in the 2-A Northern Carolina Conference baseball standings.
The Eagles (9-8, 7-5) split a 10-inning doubleheader with Franklinton, winning the first game 4-3 before dropping the second 5-3.
Warren County visits Southern Vance Tuesday before closing the regular season Friday at second-place South Granville.
Roanoke Rapids has games this week with South Granville and league-leading Bunn.
Darian Sellers got the win for Warren County Monday, striking out three and allowing five hits.
Leading the Eagles at the plate: Pete Johnson (2-for-3), Tyler Thompson (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Sellers (1-for-3, RBI), Thomas McCaffity (1-for-2).
Blake Tharrington started game two for the Eagles and struck out seven, allowing four hits.
Warren County had three errors in the second contest.
Johnson and Antonio Thompson each recorded hits and Thompson had an RBI.
