Prep Roundup: Lady Vikings downed at Northwood

Northern Vance was defeated 57-34 at Northwood Friday in 3-A Big Eight Conference varsity girls basketball action.

Northern was without leading scorer and rebounder Jackie Miller. The Chargers were also without their top scorer.

Brianna Waller led the Vikings, who dropped to 1-5 in league play, with 10 points and Kayleigh Spencer had eight points.

Northern visits J.F. Webb on Tuesday.

Spartan girls defeated by Cary Christian

The Kerr-Vance varsity girls basketball team lost 52-23 Friday at Cary Christian.

Cary Christian jumped out to a 17-1 lead and led 33-14 at halftime.
Rebecca Ross scored eight points for KVA and Macy Lee Johnson added seven.

The brutal Eastern Plains Independent Conference schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Spartans (9-6, 3-4). On Tuesday, they visit Halifax Academy, which has a win over Cary Christian.

Kerr-Vance’s varsity boys basketball team dropped a 76-45 decision at Cary Christian Friday.

R.J. Hunt and Derrian Markham each had 13 points for the Spartans, who fell to 8-7 overall and 2-6 in the Eastern Plains Independent Conference.

Cary Christian stayed unbeaten in league play with the win.

KVA visits Halifax Academy on Tuesday.
