Spartans fall at St. Davids

Kerr-Vance held St. Davids’ leading scorer to nine points Tuesday, but came out on the losing end of a 42-28 decision in Raleigh.

KVA dropped to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the Eastern Plains Independent Conference.

St. Davids’ only league loss is to Cary Christian, which hosts the Spartans on Friday.

KVA was down only seven points entering the final period, but couldn’t keep pace offensively.

Rebecca Ross led the Spartans with 14 points and Price Wester had 10.

Hunt’s 24 not enough for KVA boys

Kerr-Vance played one of its best halves of the year Tuesday at St. David’s before the hosts dominated the second.

The Spartans led 33-29 at halftime, but St. David’s used a 14-0 run to start the second quarter on its way to a 79-54 win.

KVA turned the ball over 15 times in the second half as the Spartans dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the Eastern Plains Independent Conference.

R.J. Hunt led the Spartans with 24 points, shooting 13-of-13 at the foul line, and Derrian Markham finished with 12 points.

KVA visits league leading Cary Christian on Friday.
