Prep Roundup: Eagles drop Northern Carolina clash

Warren County’s baseball game Wednesday against South Granville got away from the Eagles in the top of the seventh inning.

Visiting South Granville (7-3, 4-1 Northern Carolina Conference) scored seven runs in the seventh to take a 10-0 lead before handing Warren County a

10-1 loss. Two of those seventh-inning runs were charged to Eagles starter Hayden Sullivan, who was relieved in the seventh with one out.
Sullivan gave up eight hits and struck out six for the Eagles (5-5, 3-3).

South Granville starter Cameron Willis tossed a complete game, allowing four hits while striking out seven. The junior right-hander retired the side in order in each inning but the first and seventh.

Warren County scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Sullivan knocked in Tyler Thompson, who doubled.
Pete Johnson had the only other two hits for the Eagles.

The Vikings didn’t record an error and turned a double play in the first and fourth innings to deny Warren County.

South Granville tallied 11 hits, led by a 3-for-4 performance from Ty Adcock, who had two RBIs. Justin Bullock was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Warren County, fourth in the standings, steps out of conference Monday at Louisburg while South Granville visits Bunn Friday. The Vikings and Wildcats are tied for second in the league behind Roanoke Rapids.
