Final Conference Cup standings released
The final Wells Fargo Conference Cup competition standings have been released for the 2013-2014 sports seasons.
The Conference Cup recognizes N.C. High School Athletic Association schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play.
J.F. Webb and Northern Vance each jumped Southern Durham to avoid a last-place finish in the 3-A Big Eight Conference. Webb finished sixth and Northern seventh to pass Southern Durham, which had been sixth following the conclusion of the winter sports seasons.
Chapel Hill finished atop the Big Eight standings thanks in part to a boys track and field title and a share of first in girls soccer.
Southern Vance was seventh in the 2-A Northern Carolina Conference and Warren County eighth.
Durham's N.C. School of Science and Math, aided by a boys tennis title, topped the Northern Carolina Conference in its first year in the league to beat second-place Bunn by seven points.
