Seasons end for Spartan tennis, volleyball teams

Kerr-Vance’s tennis and volleyball teams were each eliminated Friday from the quarterfinals of their respective N.C. Independent School Athletic Association Class 1-A tournaments.

KVA head coach Hilda Delbridge said her third-seeded tennis team gave No. 2 Wayne Country Day a run for its money in the Spartans’ 6-3 loss at Barton College in Wilson.

The Spartans’ 10th-seeded volleyball team, lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) to No. 2 Oakwood School Friday in Raleigh.

The tennis team finished 14-8 on the season while the volleyball team was 12-11.

Statistical leaders for the volleyball team Friday were Bryles Cutts (nine kills, 20 digs, ace), Hannah Faulkner (12 digs, two aces, kill), Kassidy Dickerson (11 digs, three assists, kill, ace), Sophia Naradzay (11 digs, three kills), Rachel Ross (five assists, kill, ace), Rebecca Ross (23 digs, two assists, ace, kill).
