Prep Roundup: Spartans edged by Ridgecroft
Kerr-Vance fell to Ridgecroft School 3-2 at home Friday in varsity soccer action.
Ridgecroft scored two quick goals with 14:30 and 12 minutes left in the first half.
KVA goalie Jordan Smith stopped what would have been the third goal a few minutes later.
“During the first half, I think our guys were a little timid,” KVA head coach Devon Honeywell said. “But in the second half we made a few tactical changes in the midfield and it really worked out. We could have easily come away with a tie.”
KVA’s Joseph Burnette found the back of the net after a bobble by the Ridgecroft goalie with about 18 minutes left and added a second less than three minutes later.
“For the last 20 minutes, it was really all KVA,” Honeywell said. “They were backpedaling.”
Honeywell highlighted the play of Caleb Weiss, who he named “man of the match,” also praising the work of Colin Pegram, Adam Medlin and Burnette.
Kerr-Vance plays at home Monday against Oakwood School.
