Prep Roundup: Spartans come up short against Knights

Kerr-Vance dropped a 3-1 decision on Thursday to Cary Christian in Eastern Plains Independent Conference soccer action.

Riley Short had the Spartans’ goal on an assist from Bryles Cutts.

KVA head coach Amy Johnson highlighted the play of Sophia Naradzay and goalkeeeper Shannon Cash.

The Spartans lost to Halifax Academy 2-1 on Wednesday with Claire Freeman finding the net for KVA on a Cutts assist.

The Spartans (3-2, 1-2) host Oakwood School on Monday.

Vikings downed at Orange
Northern Vance opened 3-A Big Eight Conference soccer play on Thursday with a 6-0 loss at Orange.

The Vikings (0-2-2) trailed 5-0 at halftime before a much better effort in the second, according to head coach Razvan Tegean.

Tegean said Northern goalkeeper Jackie Miller came up with a few impressive stops.

The Vikings travel back to Hillsborough Monday to face Cedar Ridge.

Northern makes Big Eight debut

Northern Vance fell 16-0 at Orange on Thursday in the Vikings’ second-ever lacrosse match and first in 3-A Big Eight Conference play.

Northern hosts Kerr-Vance Friday at 6 p.m.
