Spartans see tennis improvement

A trying season is in the books for the Kerr-Vance tennis team. The losses mounted for the Spartans, but head coach Dave Donaldson said he was sad to see the season end with his inexperienced squad continuing to show improvement.

KVA fell 9-0 to Faith Christian Monday in the finale.

“Over the course of the season, everyone has gotten better,” said Donaldson. “Everyone is continuing to improve and get better.”

KVA finished 2-16 on the season without a win in a competitive Eastern Plains Independent Conference.

Faith finished third behind Parrott Academy and St. David’s. Those three, along with Cary Christian, should make the N.C. Independent School Athletic Association Class 2-A Tournament, according to Donaldson.

KVA competes on the 1-A level and had two seniors this season, Taylor Abbott, and William Parish.

“Overall I think it’s been good,” Donaldson said of the season. “I think everybody had a good time and they continued to improve.”
