Southern-Bunn moved to next week

With school out of session, most of Friday's high school basketball games will not be played.

Northern Vance was scheduled to host Webb and Warren County had a home game against Roanoke Rapids. Wanda Thompson, the athletics director at Warren County, said the Eagles’ games against the Yellow Jackets could be moved to Saturday.

Warren County still has four 2-A Northern Carolina Conference games left to be play. The league tournament has been cancelled.

Southern Vance will not host Bunn Saturday as scheduled and will instead play those games on Thursday.

The Raiders will also visit South Granville on Tuesday and welcome Warren County for Senior Night on Friday.

Lady Spartans to play on

As of Thursday evening, the Kerr-Vance varsity girls basketball team is still scheduled to compete against top-seeded Halifax Academy Friday in the Eastern Plains Independent Conference Tournament at Rocky Mount Academy.

Fourth-seeded KVA advanced to the semifinals by knocking out Grace Christian of Raleigh on Monday.

Colts unlikely to play league tourney

The N.C. Independent School Athletic Association 1-A Carolina Christian Conference Tournament is unlikely to be played, according to Joseph Cooper, the Crossroads Christian athletics director.

Neither the Crossroads varsity boys or girls will make the 1-A state tourney, but the Colts will host their own postseason boys and girls tournaments next week. Community Christian of Wilson, Trinity Academy of Raleigh and Faith Christian of Rocky Mount are each scheduled to compete in the two-day event, slated for Tuesday and Thursday.
