Northern Vance picked up its first 3-A Big Conference tennis win Monday with a 7-2 victory at J.F. Webb.

Northern hosts Cedar Ridge Wednesday.

Northern soccer defeated in Raleigh

The Northern Vance varsity soccer team fell 6-0 at perennial conference and state power Cardinal Gibbons Monday after trailing 3-0 at halftime.

“From our side, I don’t think it that’s bad,” Northern Vance head coach Razvan Tegean said of the result. “I’ll take that as a plus for our group this year.”

Northern goalkeeper Thomas Knight finished with 18 saves on the night.

The Vikings lost 3-1 Friday to Franklinton with the Red Rams’ final tally coming late in the match.

Joseph Sharpe had the goal for Northern.

Franklinton won the previous match with the Vikings, 6-0.

Northern (4-5-0, 1-1) hosts Southern Durham Wednesday.
