Prep Roundup: Lady Raiders win league tilt at Bunn

Breona Jones and Rashyda Burwell each scored 16 points, Kechae Parker had 14 and Southern Vance won its second Northern Carolina Conference game Tuesday at Bunn.

Jones added seven assists and Parker had eight rebounds in the 55-41 win.

Kiyanna Kearney added nine rebounds and four points for Southern (8-2, 2-0), which led 28-19 at halftime.

The Raiders host Durham School of the Arts Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Southern falls 59-36

The Southern Vance boys fell 59-36 to Bunn Tuesday.

Ty-Traveon Roberts led the Raiders (4-6, 1-1 Northern Carolina Conference) with 13 points and six rebounds.

Bunn improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Wildcats have won 10 straight since dropping their first two games of the season against East Wake and Southern Nash.

Southern hosts Durham School of the Arts Wendesday at 7:30 p.m.

Northern drops game in Raleigh

The Northern Vance varsity girls were defeated 72-32 at Cardinal Gibbons Tuesday.

The Vikings dropped to 1-3 in Big Eight Conference play with the loss.

Jacquilyn Miller led Northern with eight points and KyNyiah Landrum, Brianna Nelson and Kenya Perry each had six points.

The Vikings host Southern Durham Friday.

KVA middle school boys get sixth win

Kerr-Vance defeated Halifax Academy 70-13 Tuesday in middle school boys basketball action.

Nine KVA players scored as the Spartans jumped out to an early lead, allowing the reserves to get some action. John Averette led KVA with 19 points off the bench and Colby Wilkerson finished with 13 points.

KVA (6-1) plays Lighthouse Christian today at Franklin Academy.
