Warren County got a big lift from its freshmen Friday and the Eagles rolled to a 55-26 win over Northern Vance.

Warren County (4-2) got 27 combined points from freshmen, led by Jodeci Boyd’s 12. Deja Merritt had eight points, Makayla Jones had five and Regine Palmer added two.

“They have a bright future,” Warren County head coach Shannon Jones said of her rookies. “Very, very athletic. I’ll be really excited once they get some size and experience under their belt.”

The game last week between the rivals was competitive as the Eagles pulled away for a seven-point win.

Warren County led 11-4 after one quarter Friday and took a 25-6 advantage into halftime.

The versatile Boyd scored 10 of her 12 in the opening quarter.

“She’s really coming into her own as a player,” said Jones.

Jacquilyn Miller had a game-high 14 points for Northern (0-6).
