Southern bounces back with another decisive win over Northern

Southern Vance rebounded from a loss last Friday to Northern Nash with an 84-22 victory at home over Northern Vance Tuesday.

The Raiders outscored the Vikings 154-38 in their two meetings combined this season.

Southern forced 21 turnovers in the first half Tuesday and led 24-1 after one quarter before taking a 45-6 advantage into halftime.

Northern transfer Kechae Parker led Southern with 16 points, eight steals and five rebounds. She shot 8-of-11 from the field.

Southern’s Breona Jones had 12 points, eight assists and five steals and Kiyanna Kearney and Ayeisha Teasley each had 11 points.

Brianna Nelson scored 12 points off the bench for Northern, all from behind the arc. She hit a trio of 3s in the fourth quarter.

Southern (2-1) travels to a Graham tournament next Thursday while Northern (0-5) visits Warren County Friday.
