Northern Vance swept Kerr-Vance in tennis action Friday for its first win of the season.

The Vikings are back in action Monday against 3-A Carolina Conference power Cardinal Gibbons.

Spartan baseball wins 10-1 at Grace of Sanford

Wyatt Evans earned the win and was 5-for-5 at the plate in Kerr-Vance’s 10-1 victory over Grace Christian of Sanford Friday.

Evans struck out five, allowing three hits and one run.

Freshman Daniel Wilkerson came on for Evans in the fifth and finished out the game, allowing no runs or hits.

Wilkerson also added a hit. Channie Renn, Adam Medlin and Jacob Bowen each had one hit as well.

Catcher Lane Humphries was 4-for-5 for the Spartans.

“I was very happy with Wyatt and Daniel and how well they did on the mound for us today,” said KVA coach Todd Wilkerson. “Our hitting was good. We hit hard and we put a lot of balls in play.”

Northern soccer falls to Nash Central

The Northern Vance soccer team was shut out 3-0 against Nash Central Friday.

Nash Central led 1-0 at halftime.

The Vikings visit Northern Nash Monday.
