Local Roundup: Warren County boys win 2 in a row
The Warren County varsity boys basketball team scored back-to-back wins recently over Roanoke Rapids and Franklinton.
The Eagles (11-5, 4-3 Northern Carolina Conference) defeated Roanoke Rapids 57-47 before a 64-51 win over Franklinton.
Justin Fitts scored six points in his return from injury against Roanoke Rapids. A.J. Alston led the Eagles with nine points and Jaylen Jones had eight.
Charlie Williams led Warren County against Franklinton with 14 points. Dennis Waddell had 11 points including three 3-pointers early in the game. Daniel Hunter finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds and Alston tallied seven points and 11 boards.
Spartan middle school girls notch win
The Kerr-Vance middle school girls basketball team defeated Trinity of Durham/Chapel Hill Wednesday, 38-11.
Kennedy Adcock led the Spartans with nine points and Becca Johnson had eight.
KVA is at home against Lighthouse Thursday, Jan. 31.
KVA middle school boys split
The Kerr-Vance “Blue” team lost against Trinity of Durham/Chapel Hill in middle school boys basketball action Wednesday, 45-30, before the full team won 41-33 Thursday over Lighthouse.
The “Blue” squad was led by Drew Griggs and Wil Short, who both had 11 points.
Griggs had 19 on Thursday and John Ross Holland had 10.
The “White” team hosts Halifax Academy Monday at 3:15 and the “Blue” team entertains Faith Christian Monday at 5:15 p.m.
Northern girls fall to Gibbons
Northern Vance fell to Cardinal Gibbons Tuesday in varsity girls action, 80-46.
The Crusaders led 39-18 at halftime.
Tanaua White scored 20 points for Northern and Kechae Parker had 18.
