Local Roundup: Southern girls go to 5-0

The Southern Vance varsity girls basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 64-44 win over East Chapel Hill Wednesday.
Kiyanna Kearney led the Raiders with 13 points. Breona Jones and Rashyda Burwell were also in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Moesha Sneed chipped in with six points.
Southern visits Louisburg Friday.

Spartan wrestling loses twice at Forsyth
The Kerr-Vance wrestling team lost twice Wednesday in Lewisville. The Spartans fell to Forsyth Country Day 36-18 before a 25-25 defeat to Greensboro Day.
KVA tied against Greensboro Day, but lost on criteria (first points scored).
Caleb Weiss, Daniel Currin and Jared Hicks each went 2-0 for KVA.
Trailing in one of his wins, Weiss pinned his opponent with one second left in the third period.
The Spartans hosts Northern Vance and Wesleyan Christian Thursday at 5 p.m.
