Northern Vance’s stretch without a win grew to 19 games with Friday’s 51-17 homecoming loss to Northwood.

Northern, which hasn’t won since the opening week of last season, dropped to 0-9 overall and has five 3-A Big Eight Conference defeats.

The Vikings visit Cedar Ridge (1-8, 1-4) this week before closing the season at home to J.F. Webb (2-7, 0-5).

Northern head coach Eric Watkins wants the team to put the losses behind them.

“My focus is on these last two games,” said Watkins. “Those last two can carry over to next year. That’s what we’re concentrating on next week.”

Northern gave away two fumbles and threw an interception.

“We’re trying to put together quarters and halves and put a whole game together,” said Watkins. “We’ve been up and down with that the whole year.”

Watkins also praised the blocking of Anderson at fullback. The Vikings’ homecoming king added 14 tackles at linebacker.
