KVA varsity basketball teams open with wins

The Kerr-Vance varsity boys and girls basketball teams each opened their seasons Tuesday with wins over Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School.

KVA’s boys won 64-57 and the girls won 48-5.

R.J. Hunt led the Spartan boys with 31 points and 15 rebounds and Derrian Markham had 12 points.

KVA was 11-of-13 at the free throw line.

Head coach Dave Carrier said it was nice to be 1-0, but that there is plenty of room for improvement.

Price Wester the led KVA girls with 14 points and Rachel Ross finished with 13.

Each team visits Crossroads Christian Friday.
