Holder tops field as Spartans, Raiders compete at KVA
Kerr-Vance’s Kayla Holder finished Wednesday’s cross country meet at KVA as the top overall finisher — boy or girl.
Holder eclipsed her previous best mark on the Spartans’ course with a mark Wednesday of 20:16.
East Wake took the boys meet with 25 points, followed by Southern Vance (51) and Oakwood School (52).
East Wake was the only school with a full girls team.
KVA did not have enough runners for a boys or girls score.
Addison Mabry of KVA was second in the girls’ run with a time of 26:20 and the Spartans’ Aubry Thompson was sixth with a mark of 33:46.
East Wake’s Isaiah Rowley was the boys’ top finisher with a time of 22:23.
Southern’s Jonathan Carlock posted a time of 22:57 for third place and the Raiders’ Sikem Caceres was fourth, logging a time of 24:17.
KVA’s A.J. Holloway was 11th with a time of 27:58 and Jacob Goswick finished in 30:57 for 16th place.
KVA next competes in the first Eastern Plains Independent Conference meet Wednesday at Rocky Mount Academy.
