The Kerr-Vance wrestling team competed Saturday in the Cary Academy Team Duals with North Raleigh Christian Academy, Southlake Christian Academy, and Wesleyan Christian Academy also attending.

KVA had only freshman Jared Hicks and junior James Averette available for the meet.

Hicks went 3-1 at 132 pounds and Averette didn’t manage a win at 160 pounds.

KVA head coach Charlie Carroll tells his team that learning is more important than wins and losses early in the season.

“If we win the match and don’t learn anything, that’s worse than losing and learning something,” said Carroll. “If we keep it up, I think we can have a pretty successful season.”

KVA wrestles again Wednesday at home against Ravenscroft and Greensboro Day.
