Southern Vance fell 37-22 at Franklinton Friday, ending the Raiders’ hopes of a 2-A Northern Carolina Conference football title or automatic state playoff berth.

The loss dropped Southern to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in league play.

Franklinton improved to 3-2 in conference to take third place and the final automatic playoff bid.

South Granville won easily over Roanoke Rapids and Warren County fell 51-14 at Bunn.

That leaves South Granville and Bunn tied with one loss atop the Northern Carolina standings, but Bunn’s lone league defeat was to the Vikings, meaning South Granville takes the conference title.

Warren County is 5-6 overall and finished with one league win.

The state playoff pairings will be released Saturday.
