Northern Vance rallied from an early deficit Friday at home against Warren County before holding off the Eagles 74-71 in overtime.

Northern never trailed in overtime and Warren County’s Charlie Williams misfired on a 3 with a few seconds remaining that would have tied the game.

The Vikings (3-1), fresh off a win over crosstown rival Southern Vance on Wednesday, trailed by as many as 14 in the first half Friday and were down 43-32 at halftime.

Tavin Moore led Northern with 19 points and Kris Haywood and Scott Hamrick each had 16. Moore and Hamrick each hit three 3-pointers.
Moore converted one of three free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to extra time after he was fouled behind the arc.

Dennis Waddell led Warren County with 19 points, A.J. Alston had 15 and Williams finished with 14.

The Eagles shot 11-of-29 from 3-point range and were 1-of-7 in the fourth quarter and overtime combined.

Warren County shot 57 percent from the foul line to Northern’s 47 percent.

The Eagles host N.C. School of Science and Math on Monday while Northern visits Southern Vance Tuesday.
